《纽约每日新闻》再次回顾和分析莱恩的讲话。星期三晚上，莱恩声称，总统奥巴马的刺激措施，不仅是“联邦政府最大的一次性开支”，它也是“充满最坏的政治关系、公司福利、裙带关系”。“你们为这个国家工作的男男女女，都被搁在交易之外。”但是，没有一个人可以相信，刺激措施是莱恩所说的政府胡作非为，他对刺激措施的说法是假的。刺激措施，创造了250万就业，为95%的美国人减税，它是高度透明的，基本上，没有欺骗。
它更不是最大的一次性开支，那是二次世界大战。
莱恩声称，奥巴马的“第一个经济事务命令”就是医疗改革。这显然不是真的。奥巴马上台几个星期，就通过了刺激法案，而医疗改革法，是一年之后。
莱恩声称，奥巴马医改法是“要联邦政府管理医疗”，又是一个谎言。医改法将更多监管，带入医疗市场，这是真的。但是，它没有让联邦政府管理医疗，而真正是，联邦政府管理的医疗部分，例如，联邦医疗保险（Medicare ）和医疗补助（Medicaid），正是莱恩声称，要保护和加强的项目。此外，莱恩声称，奥巴马医改法要为数百万小企业加税，这又是假的，因为，绝大多数情况下，奥巴马要为小企业减税。
在联邦医疗保险商，莱恩声称，奥巴马要削减7160亿美元，他掩盖了如下事实–那些节省下来的资金，大部分要回到那个项目。他无视另一事实：他支持同样程度的削减，尽管他要省下的资金，主要是用于为富人减税。莱恩声称，这些削减，意味着对我们父母或祖父母的义务，受到牺牲。这又不是真的。事实上，医疗保险开支的节省，是要维持该项目，至少延长8年，不受破产威胁。
在国家债务问题上，莱恩声称，总统奥巴马本人的决定，导致新债务增加5万亿美元。当然，如果人们相信，历史是从奥巴马宣誓就职之日开始的，那就可以说，是真的。事实上，过去三年半来的绝大多数债务增加，都是因为前总统布什立法通过的政策，比如，布什的减税、伊拉克和阿富汗战争，这些，都得到了莱恩的支持。债务是在奥巴马任上增加的，但，这不等于这是奥巴马的决策结果。
莱恩声称，奥巴马创立两党债务委员会。他们提出紧急报告。他对他们表示感谢，然后，什么都不做。这种说法，更是几个层次的谎言。首先，那个委员会，从来没有提出过紧急报告，也没有向奥巴马提出过任何建议–因为，那个委员会的报告，遭到莱恩在内的成员拒绝。专家指出，莱恩上周讲话中的“他们”，本来，包括莱恩本人，他却对此，只字不提。
莱恩所说的奥巴马什么都不做，也是谎言：奥巴马在2011年秋天，向国会送上长期减债计划，要在今后10年，减少赤字4万亿美元。虽然，人们可以说，那个计划不好，或不认真，但，说奥巴马什么都不做，却不符合现实。
当然，莱恩讲话中，不准确的说法，就更多。比如，莱恩声称，奥巴马应当对通用汽车关闭在威斯康辛的工厂负责，而那些关闭，早在奥巴马上台之前，就开始了。
