（2012-08-02,旧金山）美国微软公司改革其云端电邮服务，推出全新电子邮件网站Outlook.com，并将逐渐淘汰已有十多年历史的Hotmail电子邮件服务，以顺应手机用户的需要和社交媒体的风行。
微软的琼斯在博客留言说：“电邮服务变得越来越不重要，收件箱里,装满了业务通讯和社交信息；人们也逐渐通过社交网络,来保持个人联系，而不是电邮通讯录。
“这令许多人期许能够出现-比现在的网上电邮服务更好的方案。”
微软说，新服务有多项优点，包括,用户界面更加简洁,以及与主要社交网站实现集成等。例如，与绝大多数现有网络电子邮件相比，其收件箱能呈现的信息,要多出约30%。
此外，用户可通过该电子邮件服务,直接连接到面簿、推特等社交网站，通过收件箱,浏览好友最近的状态更新,以及新发布的微博。其通讯录能够及时集成用户在各社交网站上的联系人信息，方便用户直接通过邮件服务,与好友聊天,甚至视频通话。
据了解，新电子邮件服务正式运行后，将取代原有的Hotmail服务。用户目前可选择以现有Hotmail账号登录新邮件服务并试用，但,所有Hotmail用户,最终将向新邮件服务迁移。有美国媒体报道称，Hotmail服务,可能于明年逐步终止。
Hotmail于1996年创立，次年被微软收购。

Microsoft launched a new e-mail Website

Microsoft’s Jones blog says: “e-mail services are becoming less important, the inbox is filled with business communication and social information; people have gradually through social networks, to maintain personal contact, rather than e-mail address book .
“It’s so many people expect a better solution – than the online e-mail service.”
Microsoft said the new services there are a number of advantages, including more concise, user interface, as well as integration with major social networking sites. For example, compared with the vast majority of existing Web-based e-mail, its inbox able to show the information, approximately 30% per cent more.
In addition, the user can, through the e-mail services, directly connected to the face book, Twitter and social networking sites, through the inbox, browse a friend’s recent status updates, as well as newly released microblogging. Its contacts can be integrated user contact information on the various social networking sites, user-friendly direct mail service, chat with your friends, and even video calls.
It is understood that the formal operation of the new e-mail service, it will replace the original Hotmail service. Login new mail service users may choose to have the existing Hotmail account and try out, but, all Hotmail users, and ultimately will be the new mail service migration. U.S. media reports, Hotmail services may be terminated gradually in the next year.
Hotmail was founded in 1996, the following year was acquired by Microsoft.
