沃爾瑪宣布沃爾瑪國際業務高級副總裁高福瀾（Greg Foran）被任命為沃爾瑪中國總裁兼首席執行官。他將在獲得工作許可證後，於3月1日正式赴任中國。
據介紹，高福瀾是擁有30多年豐富零售經驗的領導者，他於2011年10月,加入沃爾瑪。在此之前，他的職業發展,主要是在新西蘭和澳大利亞，他從擔任伍爾沃思公司兼職理貨員開始，成長為超市業務負責人。高福瀾曾在伍爾沃思公司擔任多個重要領導崗位，包括,在其下屬的折扣連鎖店Big W 以及專營電子消費品的Dick Smith 分別擔任總經理職務。他在營運、採購、市場、補貨等多個領域擁有豐富的經驗。
高福瀾就讀於新西蘭管理學院，並在弗吉尼亞大學和哈佛大學,分別完成管理和高級管理的學業。
“我很榮幸能夠領導在中國的業務,並服務這裡的顧客。”高福瀾說：“中國是沃爾瑪很重要的市場。我期待著能夠和我們在這裡的10萬名員工並肩努力。”
2011年9月5日，重慶沃爾瑪假冒“綠色豬肉”案件被曝光，沃爾瑪在渝的多家超市,用普通冷鮮肉假冒“綠色食品”認證的“綠色豬肉”銷售。事件,隨後發酵引發強震。同年10月17日，原沃爾瑪中國區總裁兼首席執行官陳耀昌因“個人原因”辭職，沃爾瑪亞洲總裁兼首席執行官貝思哲（Scott Price）,隨後暫時兼任沃爾瑪中國臨時總裁兼首席執行官。
