据来自姚明经纪团队“姚之队”的消息，截至7月19日晚，已有来自150多家媒体的近400名记者,报名参加7月20日下午,姚明召开的新闻发布会。此前，“姚之队”发布通知说，姚明,将在20日,召开新闻发布会，介绍自己未来事业的发展规划。外界普遍认为，姚明届时,可能正式宣布退役。
“姚之队”负责人章明基,7月19日晚,向记者证实，将有众多重量级人物,参加今天的新闻发布会，其中,包括NBA负责国际运营的高级副总裁博霍尼、NBA中国CEO舒德伟、休斯敦火箭队总经理莫雷，中国篮协副主席、国家体育总局篮管中心主管国家队事务的副主任胡加时，以及“姚之队”主要成员:比尔·达菲、海逊格、陆浩等。
有众多国外媒体报名参加今天的新闻发布会，包括,CNN、BBC、美联社、路透社、法新社等重量级媒体。国内媒体,对这场发布会,也空前关注。据悉，中央电视台,计划从今天下午1点开始,在体育频道,进行现场直播，节目时间,长达5小时。新华社专门从北京,派来了4位记者。
