I’ve been going to conference for years now and it’s still exciting to catch up with old friends, listen to the debates rage and watch as we set a direction for the country. We agreed to sell uranium to India – the world’s largest democracy and a great economic power. This will broaden our markets and create jobs for Australians. Under the theme of Jobs , Growth and Fairness we renewed our commitment to keeping the economy and budget strong, implementing the National Health Agreement and endorsed record funding for schools with a national curriculum. And, of course, we made some big decisions about party reform – making changes to give you a bigger say in the Party. Nobody holds a National Conference like the ALP – the other political parties don’t even come close.
