通用航空-重庆永川区召开新闻发布会宣布，计划投资5亿元，建设永川通用航空机场，该项目已经列入《 “十二五”期间,重庆市突发事件应急体系建设规划》重点工程。
该项目,占地500亩，建设年限,为2012~2015年。这个机场在建成后，将成为重庆市万州、涪陵、黔江和永川四个区域性应急中心之一，承担区域空中应急救援能力，发展低空商务飞行业务。
按照重庆市的规划，建成万州、黔江、涪陵、永川四个区域性应急中心,和通用航空机场后，到2015年，重庆市自然灾害救援救助能力,将得到进一步提高。在通用低空机场建成后，遇到突发事件时,可以航空救援、医疗急救;平时,可以开展私人飞机、旅游、商务租赁等活动。
